Most people would think new cars and houses when winning the lottery, but a few winners from around the UK decided to use their lottery millions to give back this festive season.
A group of UK National Lottery winners are spreading a little Christmas joy ahead of the holiday by making the ballroom dancing dreams come true for a few Blackpool-based hospice residents.
More than 200 patients were treated to an afternoon of tea, cake and a ballroom dancing masterclass thanks to the generosity of a few lotto winners from around the UK. The event has held over a single afternoon.
The group of winners have amassed winnings for more than £115 million in separate lotteries and they used a portion of their wealth to turn the The Blackpool Tower Ballroom, which has previously hosted Dancing With The Stars, into a winter wonderland.
Professional ballroom dancers were on hand to help teach attendees the moves for the Waltz and the Rumba dances, all to the sounds of the tower's historic Wurlitzer grand organ.
“I cannot thank the National Lottery winners enough for everything they have done. This afternoon has really been a dream come true for me and is a day I will never forget." said Yvonne Richardson, who receives care at the hospice.
