Man Splits $1 Million Lotto Jackpot With His Best Friend

A Boston man who was lucky enough to win a $1 million jackpot in a local lottery game has decided to share his wealth with a good friend.

Eric Cochrane matched all six lucky numbers to win a $1 million prize in the local "$10 Million Winter Riches" lottery game and decided to split his winnings with a good friend.

He shared his winnings with John Galvin, a friend who owns a guitar store and recently did not charge Cochrane's son for repairs on his electric guitar.

“Aware that Cochrane’s son had a health issue earlier in the week, Galvin did not charge Cochrane for the repair,” according to a press release from the Boston State Lottery.

Cochrane then took the $40 meant for the guitar repairs and bought lottery tickets, and promised to split any winnings with his friend if he won anything.

Less than two hours later Cochrane won a $1 million prize and opted to claim the $650,000 cash payout. He then made good on his word and shared his winnings with his friend.
