Winner Of $699 Million Powerball Jackpot Steps Forward To Claim Prize
A California local bagged a record-breaking jackpot Powerball jackpot of $699 million after ten years of playing the lottery religiously each week.
Scott Godfrey won the biggest ever jackpot won in California after playing 10 lines in a Powerball game. He walked away with a whopping $699 million, the seventh largest jackpot ever won in the United States.
Scott went on to say that a big motivator to playing the lottery was the money that went toward funding the public school system. “Even the times I’ve played in the past and didn’t win, I always felt, well, at least a few bucks of this will be going to help schools," he said.
Over the course of its history, the lottery has provided an estimated $78 million in funding for more than 10,000 public schools around California.
