Winner Of £115 Million EuroMillions Is 'Addicted' To Donating
When Former social worker Frances Connolly won £115 million she didn't start shopping for new houses or cars, instead she went on a donating spree that still hasn't ended.
Frances and her husband won the EuroMillions in 2019 and bagged a massive £115 million and immediately handed out cash to friends and family, but that was just the beginning.
The former social worker and teacher has also started up two charitable foundations: one named after her late mother Kathleen Graham in her local Northern Ireland, and the PFC Trust which supports local young carers, the elderly and refugees in her home town.
Frances has said helping others "gives you a buzz and it's addictive". "I'm addicted to it now," she said.
Her husband has even tried to set up a budget of money to donate, but she has already eclipsed the budget and donated money that was supposed to be spent in 2023. She estimates she has donated around £60 million but does not keep an exact tally, joking she would be worried in case her 57-year-old husband found it.
When asked why she chose to donate so much of her fortune she replied that: “If you can do good things for deserving people, why wouldn’t you just do it? It makes no sense to me to have that kind of money and not use it to do good in the world.”
