A Single Ticket Wins $426 Million Mega Millions Jackpot

One lucky person from Southern California is $426 million richer after being the only person to match all the numbers in a recent Mega Millions draw.

Not much is known about the ticket holder that bought a single ticket from a petrol station in Los Angeles and matched all six numbers to bag the biggest Mega Millions jackpot of the year.

The winning numbers for the Friday Mega Millions draw were 3, 16, 25, 44 and 55, and the bonus number was 13. There was only a single ticket to match all the numbers, so they will be able to claim the entire prize.

The winner hasn't come forward yet, and they will have a year from the draw date to produce the winning ticket and claim the prize.

The winner will have the option of claiming the $426 million to be paid out over 29 years, or they can claim a single, lump sum cash payment of around $293 million.

The jackpot for this draw was originally advertised as $421 million, but after skyrocketing ticket sales the jackpot prize was raised to $426 million the day of the draw.
