Winner Checks Tickets On Anniversary Of Husband's Death

A lucky Powerball winner from South Africa saw that she had won a R56 million jackpot when she checked her tickets on the anniversary of her husband's death.

A stay at home mom will never forget the anniversary of her late husbands passing after she remembered to check lottery tickets she had bought the week before.

“I was not aware that I had won until I came across an article in my local newspaper looking for one of the R56m PowerBall jackpot winners,” she said.

The woman, who has chosen to stay anonymous, made a statement through a lottery operator that she has been playing the same set of lucky numbers for years.

The lottery operator released a statement saying that the woman was one of two winners who claimed the R112 million draw which took place last week.

The lucky winner said that she only spent R7.50 on a single ticket to win the jackpot.

“I’m already blessed with everything that I need. I will use the winnings to buy my son and his wife a brand new house and car. I will also help by looking after my mother financially and assist my best friend, who is going through financial difficulties at the moment. I will invest the rest of my winnings,” she said in an interview with TimesLive.
