It's been nearly a month since a $55 million winning Powerball ticket was sold in Melbourne, and while the prize remains unclaimed there are plenty of theories surrounding the mysterious winner.
Since the winning ticket was sold on January 11th from a Lotto and News store in Brunswick, Melbourne everyone is waiting with baited-breath for the $55 million winner to claim their prize. Store owners say the shop has never been busier after posting a sign outside confirming that the winning ticket had been sold there.
Because it is so unusual for such a big prize to go unclaimed for so long plenty of wild theories have started emerging regarding the winner.
'I've heard everything. It's out of this world. I've had so many numbers now with stories," the owner of the shop told local newspapers. Right now the most prevalent theory is that the winner is a Greek man who is currently at home on holiday. Other theories include that the winner misplaced their ticket or that the winning ticket has been stolen and the police are currently investigating.
To win the $55 million jackpot the player matched all five main numbers 7, 5, 34,32, 11 and 38 and also the Powerball number which came in at 12.
