Make This Christmas Your Most Rewarding One Yet With El Gordo De Navidad! test

Christmas is just a few short weeks away, and we're sure you already have plans for the 24th, 25th, 26th, and most likely the 31st as well. But what about the 22nd? Any plans scheduled for that day yet? Because we don't know about you, but most of the lottery-playing world has plans to win not just big, but massively on 22 December, all thanks to El Gordo de Navidad!

You might not speak Spanish but you do speak jackpot - and if that's the case, you'll want to get in on all the El Gordo de Navidad action you can. More commonly known as the Spanish Christmas Lottery, El Gordo (The Fat One) de Navidad is held annually on 22 December, and features the biggest lottery prize pool in the world. We'll say that again for effect. THE BIGGEST LOTTERY PRIZE POOL IN THE WORLD! How much does that equate to in actual real-life cash? Only about €2.31 billion in prizes - meaning that if you haven't entered the draw yet, you're wasting valuable time!

How does the Spanish Christmas Lottery work?

So you're keen to get in on the multi-million jackpot winning, and you've circled the draw date on your calendar a few times. Now how do you go about entering? Well, if you're a keen lottery player, a little differently than you're used to. While El Gordo de Navidad is generally known as the Spanish Christmas Lottery, it in fact follows the form of a raffle, rather than a traditional lotto draw. Instead of you choosing your own numbers manually or via Quick Pick, you go about choosing your numbers from a pre-populated selection and purchasing shares in one or more tickets, rather than actual tickets themselves.

Here's how it works:

  • A total of 100,000 tickets will be released for the El Gordo de Navidad draw, each one pre-printed with its own unique 5-digit number ranging from #00000 to #99999.
  • Each of these 100,000 tickets will then be printed a further 160 times, with each printing known as a series.
  • From there, each ticket in each series will be further divided into ten shares, or 'decimos', numbered from 1 to 10.

Do the maths and you'll see that that works out to a massive 160,000,000 shares available - and unbelievable winning odds of 1 in 7!

Make your winning dreams come true with El Gordo de Navidad

We've already told you that the Spanish Christmas Lottery boasts the biggest prize pool in the world - a collective total of €2.31 billion. But what does that mean for you in actual prize money? Let's take a look:

  • 165 prizes of €4 million
  • 165 prizes of €1,250,000
  • 165 prizes of €500,000
  • 330 prizes of €200,000
  • 1,320 prizes of €60,000
  • 330 prizes of €20,000
  • 330 prizes of €12,500
  • 330 prizes of €9,600
  • 5,286 prizes of €1,000
  • 9,999 prizes of €200

Purchase shares in a ticket that turns out to be a winner, and you'll be paid out proportionally according to your investment. Or simply go big or go home by purchasing all ten shares in a single ticket - and if yours turns out to win the top jackpot, you'll keep every penny of the €4 million grand prize for yourself!

So take a tip from us, and from every lotto fan from here to Spain and back again - buy your El Gordo de Navidad tickets before the draw on 22 December, and you could soon be celebrating your most rewarding, most festive, most luxurious Christmas yet! Good luck!
