Lotto Winner Spends $217 Million Payout Helping To Save The Planet

A lucky Frenchman spent nearly his entire $217 million EuroMillions payout establishing an foundation to help save the planet.

A winner from France, who has been nicknamed 'guy' by the French media, won the $217 million payout in December 2020 which at the time was the biggest EuroMillions jackpot in history.

After collecting his prize he wasted no time in getting to work. "From my point of view, the priority today is saving the planet," Guy told Le Parisien. "We must act. It is an absolute emergency. If nothing is done in this regard, all other actions will be in vain. We will no longer exist."

Guy took the majority of his winnings and formed Anyama, a foundation dedicated to stopping deforestation in Africa and the rest of the world.

"I have passed on most of my prize money and will gradually give away almost all of it," he said. The French lottery group FDJ have welcomed the decision by Guy and called it an exceptional and generous gesture.
