Reports have been going out all over the media since it was discovered that a winning ticket was in existence, but now the search has intensified, and even the National Lottery itself is getting in on the act. ”Given the long holiday weekend, we want the winner to know they don’t have to wait until Tuesday to come to a lottery office to make their claim, we will come to them,” Lottery Director Michael Jones is reported as saying. ”If you are holding the winning $270 million Mega Millions ticket please call 217-524-5158 immediately.”

If the ticket isn't found, its owner will be giving up on a huge amount of money - either a once-off payment of approximately $181 million, or 30 consecutive annual payments that will increase by 5% every year. Canadian lottery winner still at large

Social media may have the answer though, as a man thought to have purchased the winning ticket was shown in a Facebook photograph holding his million-dollar buy.
