Feeling slightly guilty after eating the last treat, Bergeron headed to her local store to replace the ice cream and decided to also try her luck at the Canadian Lotto Max draw, a decision that would forever change the lives of the soon to be married couple.

Bergeron and her 32-year old fiancé Jeff Bourret collected their cheque last Monday and a delighted Bergeron told the local press of how she ended up being Canada’s latest multimillionaire.

"I ate Jeff's last buster bar and I went to the store to replace it with a drumstick and decided to buy another ticket and it turned out to be the winner. So, I think we are going to have a lot of drumsticks in our future".

Bergeron came to the realisation that she was a winner the day after the draw when she received a phone call from her mother telling her that the winning ticket was sold in her hometown. After the couple checked their ticket against the results and it was confirmed that the pair had indeed just won $50 million, Bergeron said their initial reaction was one of shock and disbelief.

"No words to explain. We looked at each other and said 'where do we go from here', till it happens, you just don't really know what to expect", Bergeron explained. Bergeron is a personal trainer while her fiancé, Bourret, works for the Canadian federal government.

The couple have only been engaged since June but said they haven’t had a chance to figure out their wedding plans since their win. Canada’s newest millionaires are first planning a vacation before planning what I would imagine will be a very lavish wedding ceremony full of ice cream bars!
