Part of our lotto go-wherever-we-like-on-holiday fantasy involves us lying around on a beach all day drinking cocktails with questionable names, and working on our all-over tan. Alright, if we're honest, that's what most of our fantasy entails. Doing as little as possible, and doing it while the sun beats down on us.
But at the same time there's also part of us that wants to get out and about, and experience a first-class holiday in a whole new way - by embracing the outdoors and doing as many thrilling activities as we can lay our hands on. Since we can finally afford all the optional extras, why not go for broke and do them all - big outdoor adventures like kite surfing, catamaran sailing, and more. Oh the world of opportunities that being a lottery winner presents - opportunities to visit fabulous hotels like:
Now that we can finally afford to pay $1,028 per night for a hotel stay, we'll be paying it in Switzerland - because the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues is beckoning! Set on the shores of Lake Geneva, this two-centuries-old landmark is home to fantastic water sport opportunities like sailing, yachting and swimming, with hiking, golfing and castle tours thrown in for good measure. Plus it's Switzerland so, chocolate.
We've been wanting to tour New Zealand ever since the first Lord of the Rings movie, and the exclusive Minaret Station in the Southern Alps seems the ideal place to start. Of course it's got nothing to do with the fact that it's so exclusive, we'll have to be helicoptered in - instead we're more interested in the mountain biking, fishing and hunting that we can take part in. And then relaxing in pure comfort once we're done.
South America here we come! Chile, more specifically - to an opulent lodge on the borders of the Torres del Paine National Park. With just 40 rooms on offer to guests, it's the height of exclusivity, which explains its $2,500 rate for a three-night stay. With private park excursions, condor viewing, kayaking and hiking to take part in, it's more than worth it though, which is why we'll be packing our bags for Chile the first chance we get!
And for our final destination, the Himalayan country of Bhutan, and five separate lodges dotted throughout the valleys of this mountainous land. We'll need to have done a bit of walking beforehand so we're prepared for the ultimate outdoor experience - an 11-night trek known as the Amankora Journey, incorporating white water rafting and ancient temple excursions, while stopping at each of the five lodges along the way. After that, we'll definitely have earned a cocktail - or three!
Want to take off on your own luxury outdoor adventure? Then follow our lead and start buying lotto tickets for your chance to hit the jackpot. The week's first draws are almost here, and if we get our way, we'll soon be jetting off on the adrenaline-fuelled trip of a lifetime!
