Abe
Goodchild told reporters at a news conference that he will retire
from his job as a metal worker that he has held for 24 years after he
was the only winner of an amazing £71
million jackpot after he matched all his lucky numbers on a
EuroMillions draw and became an instant
celeb.
And what did he do to celebrate this life-changing event? Just how any red-blooded Brit would; with a lager, a plate of spicy chicken wings and the Ireland vs Wales rugby game on the TV.
He said he first realised he had won when the EuroMillions app on his phone sent him a notification. He first thought he had won £71,000, but looked again and realised he was the only winner of the main jackpot.
He's the wealthiest singleton to ever go public with their lottery win, and his jackpot is the 15th biggest lottery win in UK National Lottery history. He has already planned on gifting some of the winnings to his family; then buy a new house and start travelling the world.
And he also makes no pretense that he won't change after winning; "I'm not one of these winners who is going to say this win won't change me. It bloody well will or at least I'll give it a damn good go! There'll be no more shift work for me." he told reporters at the same news conference.
