Businessman Who Bagged Multi-Million Jackpot Will No Change His Lifestyle

A Kwazulu-Natal businessman who won a R167 million Powerball jackpot says he will not change how he lives his day-to-day life.

The man from the small coastal town of Ballito spent R150 on tickets for a recent SA Powerball draw and ended up walking away with one of the lottery's largest payouts ever.

The winner, who has chosen to stay anonymous, says that he plans of settling all of his debts and making a donation to charity; but also plans on continuing his business and won't make any drastic lifestyle changes.

According to Ithuba, the excited yet anxious man found out that he had won the jackpot through checking his ticket numbers on the internet.

“This is the second-highest PowerBall jackpot win since February 2019, when we had a R232 million winner. In July 2021 we also had a R158 million jackpot winner,” said Ithuba CEO, Charmaine Mabuza.

Ithuba also said that this jackpot marks the 50th won since January, and a total of 2.5 million winners across the board in all draws. Playing and winning big in the lottery has never happened so frequently.
