Man Who Won $20 Million Lotto Jackpot Shares Winnings With Family

A lucky lotto winner from New Zealand decided to share his $20 million of good fortune with his family, deciding to split his winnings with them.

The man, a seasoned lotto player in his late 50s, has already given away half of his $20.2 million fortune saying that, "family is the most important thing and we are so excited to be able to share our luck with the people we love most, and know that it's not just our life that has changed."

The man bought his winning ticket from a mall in Christchurch and kept it safe in his wallet for nearly a week after the draw before checking his numbers to see if he had won anything. Never imagining that he would ever win the jackpot, he told local news that, "I thought, when I checked my ticket, I'd find out for sure it wasn't me and it was fun to dream for a while."

His first thought after discovering that he had won the jackpot was, "Wow, now I can retire!"

The store where the ticket was bought has sold 30 First Division winning tickets, making it the fourth luckiest lotto store in all of New Zealand.
