 UK National Lottery

Played every Wednesday and Saturday, The UK National Lottery is the largest lottery in the United Kingdom. With jackpots of up to £42,000,000 the UK Lottery has already created over 2,700 millionaires to date.

To play the UK Lottery, choose 6 numbers from the playboard ranging from 1–49. Prizes are awarded to players who match at least 3 of the 6 drawn numbers with increasing prize value for matching more of the drawn numbers.

In addition to 6 drawn numbers, an additional number is drawn as the Bonus Ball. The bonus ball is only relevant to those players who match 5 of the 6 drawn numbers, whereby those players matching exactly five of the drawn numbers who also match the bonus ball receive a larger prize than those matching just 5 of the drawn numbers. Anyone matching all 6 drawn numbers wins the jackpot.

For players matching at least 4 of the drawn balls the prize value is dependent on the total number of players also matching the same number of balls in that the prize fund is divided equally between all players matching that number of drawn numbers. In the event that no player matches all 6 of the drawn numbers the jackpot is accumulated into the next Lotto draw, a so-called Rollover (a Rollover is limited to 3 consecutive draws).

All prizes (including the jackpot) won playing the UK Lottery are paid as a lump sum and are tax-free. Did you know that of every pound (£) spent on playing the UK Lottery, 50 pence (p) goes to the prize fund, 28p to 'good causes' as set out by Government (part of the Big Lottery Fund), 12p to the British Government as tax and 5p to retailers as commission, while Camelot receives 4.5p to cover operating costs and 0.5p profit. The National Lottery also returns a higher percentage of revenue back to society than any other Lottery.

 El Gordo de la Primitiva

The El Gorgo de la Primitiva lottery draw takes place every Sunday. To play you choose 5 numbers between 1-54 from our main playboard and 1 number from 0-9 in the smaller playboard.

With so many lotteries in Spain made up of similar names, players sometimes get confused about which lotto they are actually playing!

To eliminate confusion, it is often assumed that the term El Gordo is specific for the Christmas Lottery; some even think that El Gordo is in fact the name of the lottery. However, the real meaning of El Gordo is simply "the first prize" (literally "the fat one" or more accurately "the big one"); other lotteries have their Gordo as well. To confirm, the El Gordo de la Primitiva lottery, has nothing in common with the Christmas lottery.

El Gorgo de la Primitiva- We DO provide tickets for this popular Sunday lottery.

La Primitiva
- This is Spain’s twice weekly (Thursday & Saturday) lotto. We do NOT currently provide tickets for this lottery.

El Gordo
. (Commonly known as the Spanish Christmas lottery). We do NOT currently provide tickets for this raffle.

 USA Powerball Lottery

Holding the record for the largest single prize awarded by an American lottery, in February 2006 Powerball was responsible for a huge $365,000,000 jackpot.

On Jan 15 2012, USA Powerball underwent major changes to produce a lottery offering lower odds and bigger jackpots. These changes included:

  • Jackpots increase by a minimum of $10 million with each rollover
  • Starting jackpot will double from $20,000,000 to $40,000,000
  • Overall odds of winning will improve from 1 in 35 to 1 in 32
  • Match-5 prize will increase from $200,000 to $1,000,000
  • The Powerball-only prize will increase from $3 to $4

To play the twice weekly Powerball lottery (draws held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 pm EDT), a player chooses 5 numbers from our 1-59 playboard and 1 number from our 1-35 playboard.

Powerball is coordinated by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), a non-profit organization formed by an agreement with the various USA lotteries.
Powerball’s jackpots start at $20 million (annuity) and can roll into the hundreds of millions over many drawings. The jackpot is paid as a 30-payment annuity.

Powerball via Fortune Cookie!
In a Powerball draw in 2005, there was a suspicion of foul play after no less than 110 people came to claim second prize winnings of $227,000.  It was only after an investigation that MUSL lottery officials found the lucky winners had all played numbers from fortune cookies made by a New York confectionary factory. The factory had printed the numbers 22, 28, 32, 33, 39, 40 on thousands of fortunes. The "40" in the fortune did not match the Powerball (42) and since the winners had been the result of a coincidence rather than foul play, the lotto payouts were made!
